Tomorrow is International Talk Like a Pirate Day! Live it up, me hearties!

Oh, and I started my first rotation, and it's awesome, and the lab has a dog, and I'm learning to do yeast 2-hybrid screens, which are super basic but I've never done them before. I'm ridiculously happy.

I'll update about my weekend later, which was awesome and crazy and involved not sleeping Saturday night.

Grad school rocks.

Arrrr.

the dog is like...a pet dog, right? not for experiments?

it sounds like you're settling in well!!

*LAUGH*
Yeah, it's a pet dog. The PI (Susan) has a cocker spaniel she brings in a couple days a week. It stays in the office, and they have a little baby gate across the door so Nebby can't get into the lab area. She's such a cute dog. She's sooo lovey.

I am settling in really well! I've been absurdy busy and haven't even had time to read my friends page regularly... so I've just sort of been skimming your entries. Congrats on the finalized name change... Scary, but cool, right?
Hopefully soon things will settle down to a rhythm, and I can catch up.

WHEW!!

cocker spaniels are so cute. i love their ears! they look like little pigtails.

it's good to be busy, as long as it's a good busy, if that makes sense! is it very cold there? for some reason, i think of cold weather when i think of CT, although the one time i was there, the weather was quite nice.

It's a yeast lab, so we're not likely to mistake Nebby for a large mouse and accidentally mutagenize her. Hehehe... She is a cutie.

Speaking of cuties, how are the buns??

It's not cold here yet. It's been a bit rainy, but today was sunny and downright hot. New England weather sort of confuses me at the moment. It can't seem to make up its mind. How's the weather in CA? I miss this time of year... it's the perfect temperature in September/October.

And yeah, it's a really good busy, so I'm enjoying being overworked and overscheduled. I'm in my element. (Even if the classes are boring as hell. It's only a few hours a week.)

the buns are doing well! thanks for asking. bunbun had a minor toe injury, but she's doing fine now.

the weather here is AWESOME at present. i'm sad, thinking that it will start to rain soon, but for now...i'm soaking it up. rumor has it, it will be an el nino year this year.

Poor Bunbun. Good to hear she's recovered. You should post more pics of the critters...

I am jealous of your predictably stable weather.
