oceantheorem: (I shall not waste my days in trying to p)
This week has really been insane. That informational meeting I went to for the science magazine? I told the advisor that I was interested in editing, and (I kid you not) he got REALLY excited and asked if I'd marry him. Then he said, "Excellent. You're our senior editor." So apparently I'm now the lead editor of a graduate student science magazine at Yale. Huh.

Other things I've done since Saturday, and will do tomorrow:
* Learned to swing dance
* Went swing dancing
* Became a graduate student affiliate for an undergrad college
* Got called "old" for the first time
* Had dinner with a friend
* Watched the entire second season of Lost on DVD
* Watched the second episode of GG on TV Tuesday night
* Made a cheesecake and attended a chocolate party
* Made a comment in class that was deemed very intelligent and insightful (which is kind of amazing, because I hadn't slept well and hadn't really finished reading the paper we were discussing, and it seemed like an obvious thing to me, but the professor seemed to think it was a pretty good idea)
* Got Biosafety training
* Got Radiation training (technically this was last week, but I'm throwing it in anyway)
* Managed to write three whole pages in my paper journal!
* Went climbing
* Tonight I will clean the apartment and pack
* Tomorrow I will go to Woods Hole for a departmental retreat

And now, I'm off to clean, because my mom sent me a vacuum cleaner, and it arrived yesterday, and I haven't had one since I moved in in July, so you can imagine the state of the carpet.

Oh yeah, and I just wanted to say: I'm doing way too much. I don't have time for all of this crap, plus class and lab rotations. But I love all of it. I love classes and lab. I love dancing and climbing and editing and I'll probably love being a grad affiliate once I actually start doing it. I'm overworked and stressed out and sleep-deprived and caffeinated and sooo homesick for Santa Cruz, and absolutely completely and totally happy.
