I started seriously packing today. I have a ton of stuff, and I want to throw most of it away. Especially the ten million post-it notes all over my room, with half-completed to-do lists or phone numbers of loan consolidation or New Haven apartment or car sales people on them. Seriously, the post-its seem to come out of the walls. And I seem to feel the need to write a new to-do list every single day, even though the new to-do list is inevitably only one item different from the to-do list of the day before. I can't just cross something off or add a new item. Nooo. I have to take one of the new post-its that has spawned in the night and scrawl a brand-new completely unrealistic to-do list all over it, and heaven forbid I should mess up or forget an item, because that invariably results in a second post-it note. And the worst part is that I'm incapable of throwing them away, because then I might forget to do the things that are scrawled in triplicate all over them, so they just go to die on my floor, amid my dirty laundry and my unopened textbooks, and while I was packing today I must have found ten of them hiding under one notebook.
I went up to campus today and stole boxes from the Chem department. They're moving into the new building and they have all these used, re-folded boxes stacked up outside the new labs. I grabbed an armload and was wrestling with them when some guy walked up to me and started to pick up some boxes of his own. "Hey," I said, "I'm just stealing boxes, am I in your way?" And he goes, "Oh no, I'm doing the same thing," and grabbed six or so and walked off. I picked up eight and followed him out of the building.
Free boxes, man. Yeah.
Other than that, today was pretty uninteresting. I mean, it is 3 in the morning and I'm updating livejournal, so that should tell you something about both my sleep schedule and my social life. I guess I could go to bed, but there's clean laundry and folded boxes and probably a small colony of used post-it notes on top of my sheets.
