Raining livejournal entries

It's still not raining. But I thought I would make you guys laugh with tales of the stupid thing I did this morning.

Yesterday I got up at 5:30 after 4 hours of sleep and didn't get to bed until after midnight, so even after 7 hours of sleep this morning, I was exhausted. My body kind of went "Hnnnrgghh..." when the alarm went off.

So I made coffee, put it into my mug, put that into my bag, and went up to school so I could work on my thesis. We had a lab meeting, so I sat down with my coffee and my binder and got my pencil ready to take notes. There were five of us in the lab, crowded around a computer so we could see Tom's presentation...

I shifted in my seat to get comfortable and heard a strange watery dripping sound. I paused and thought, "Hmm... I wonder what that noise is?" in a very sleepy sort of way. Then Cynthia went, "KARA!" and I looked at my hand.

When I shifted in my seat, I'd tilted my hand so that my coffee mug was pouring coffee onto the lab floor. *hand smacks forehead* I said, "Oh!" and accepted the paper towels Cynthia handed me. I set my coffee on the lab table behind me, reached over to grab some more paper towels... and knocked my coffee over.

I got less caffeine in my system today than I meant to. But on the plus side, I think our lab floor is cleaner now than it's been in months, since I had to wipe the whole thing down....

I am a spaz.

is it supposed to rain? my mom and grandma called me yesterday to talk about the rain, thunder, and lightning (they're in LA). and i told them it was super hot for me yesterday.

Yeah, it usually starts raining in Santa Cruz in mid-October. It's been unusually warm here the last couple of weeks, but it looks like the "start raining" memo finally came through, and Santa Cruz is getting all geared up with a nice heavy dose of fog. It's a good thing I love the fog, or the next four months would really suck. It will probably be foggy continuously until then, except for when it's raining, which will be about 80% of the time.
