Oh my god. This applying to graduate school thing is getting way out of hand. I'm suddenly applying to nine schools, and I need to look for some fellowships (which means it will be like applying to thirteen schools).

So far, the best news I've heard is that Graduate School Is Free.

I'm horribly, madly in love with UCSF.

Oh, and I emailed the lady who discovered telomerase (she works at UCSF) and she says she's looking for grad students and might be interested in me. And Noller is going to write me recommendations. For those of you who are non-scientists or who don't know who Noller is... just be excited. Be really, really excited.

In addition to being really excited... does anyone want to help me fill out nine different applications, while I study for the GRE, which is in three weeks? :-P ...Didn't think so.

if you were here, i'd help you :P just not on saturday or sunday. chris comes home on saturday and my mom is babysitting galen for a few hours on sunday so chris and i can go out and have some time together.

It turns out that when you get a Ph.D., it's always free!! If they accept you, they pay for you!! So either your advisor pays for you out of his/her grant, or you get a fellowship from some outside source, and that pays for you wherever you go! Isn't that exciting?
Thanks for the offer! I've got a lot of apps to slog through... I'm making up folders for each one with the paperwork I need. I think I'm going to start putting checklists on the front of them, because I'm starting to forget where I am in each one.

I printed the Cambridge application. It's 25 pages long. This is me having a nervous breakdown....

I'm thinking of scratching Yale and Cambridge off the list and adding Harvard and Caltech. I don't think I meet the entrance requirements to Cambridge... and there aren't any interesting researchers at Yale.
