oceantheorem: (Just breathe)
This is my first post from my new computer. Hurrah!

I just read back through a bunch of my entries and learned some interesting things about myself. Like... I say COMPLETELY different things on my livejournal than I do in my paper journal. I remember all the events I have written in my paper journal, and they all happened the way I wrote them. It's interesting that the act of writing events on livejournal, knowing I have an audience, warps what I write ever so slightly. I leave little details out. It's... interesting. There are also a lot of entries that allude to things I barely remember, things that there's no way anyone else understood. So reading these entries makes you feel like you've got a good idea of who I am and how I think... and that's totally wrong.

Anyway, it was just interesting.

I woke up at 5:30 this morning after only 4 hours of sleep, so I think I'm going to go to bed now. Thesis work and a midterm tomorrow.

But the good moodedness of this weekend is still hanging on. There's a feeling inside me that I haven't felt in a long time... It's enough to make me think, "maybe October isn't so bad."

... I really, really hope UCSF accepts me. If I say it enough times, will it happen?

Today was gorgeous.

It hasn't rained yet, but the fog sat on top of campus all day, and mist rolled through the trees and left invisible droplets on my notes while I was studying for my cell bio midterm. It was cold and gray and AWESOME. I don't know why, but I love this kind of weather. Maybe it's because it softens the world a little.

Anyway. I need to go do some pchem homework.

It's still not raining. But I thought I would make you guys laugh with tales of the stupid thing I did this morning.

Yesterday I got up at 5:30 after 4 hours of sleep and didn't get to bed until after midnight, so even after 7 hours of sleep this morning, I was exhausted. My body kind of went "Hnnnrgghh..." when the alarm went off.

So I made coffee, put it into my mug, put that into my bag, and went up to school so I could work on my thesis. We had a lab meeting, so I sat down with my coffee and my binder and got my pencil ready to take notes. There were five of us in the lab, crowded around a computer so we could see Tom's presentation...

I shifted in my seat to get comfortable and heard a strange watery dripping sound. I paused and thought, "Hmm... I wonder what that noise is?" in a very sleepy sort of way. Then Cynthia went, "KARA!" and I looked at my hand.

When I shifted in my seat, I'd tilted my hand so that my coffee mug was pouring coffee onto the lab floor. *hand smacks forehead* I said, "Oh!" and accepted the paper towels Cynthia handed me. I set my coffee on the lab table behind me, reached over to grab some more paper towels... and knocked my coffee over.

I got less caffeine in my system today than I meant to. But on the plus side, I think our lab floor is cleaner now than it's been in months, since I had to wipe the whole thing down....

I am a spaz.
