oceantheorem: (knit tired kitty)
Yeah, I'm getting worse and worse at updating.  I blame, uh... the cat.  Or something.

So, I finished the Dr. Who scarf a few weeks ago.  It was 1 inch short of 15 feet long.  Will loves it.

I have also been working on some other projects, which I will post pictures of in a week or so.

And, the other night, I re-made some old stitch markers that kept falling apart.

So I had the needlenose pliers out, and the jump rings and findings and whatnot, and a friend had suggested using leverback earrings for the loops of the stitch markers, so I had a pile of those sitting in front of me... and it occurred to me I could MAKE EARRINGS.  A few days before I had seen a keychain made out of a tiny skein of yarn, and it occurred to me I could probably make even tinier skeins of yarn and make earrings out of them!

So I did.

Skein Earrings by you.

I showed a few friends on Ravelry, and they went NUTS for them.  I had no fewer than four people ask, within just a couple hours, if I was selling them, and please could they buy a pair?

So I set up an Etsy shop.

And I am now selling tiny skein of yarn earrings on the internet.

I'm gonna go work on a Statement of Purpose for grad schools now.

That scarf is AMAZING!!! How long did i take you? Whatever the answer is, you finished freakishly fast.

Also, wow! Your own business! Congrats!

That is awesome. I would die if I had to knit something 15 feet long. Nuts.

And WOO HOO on your business ventures! If I had pierced ears I would totally buy a pair, but alas, I vowed when I was a kid to never pierce my ears. So there.

I would pierce my eyebrow but then I think I'd have a hard time seeing through the yarn...

It took about seven weeks. I did about 30% of it in the last weekend, though, because I was so SICK of it I just wanted to finish it and be done. I had to soak my hands in hot water so my joints would calm down enough for me to do the last foot...
It was so worth it though. It was such a fun project, and seeing Will's face when I gave it to him made me forget about how awful it was to knit. I'd do it again.

I'm really excited about the earrings! I hope lots of knitters everywhere buy them!

Also, you, keep an eye out for a package from me. You are getting preeeeseeennts! Also also, I miss you.

Yeah, it almost killed me too! It was insane. I made Jim help me make the tassles at the end because I was so tired.

I could make you a pair with clip-on earrings... but if I remember from when I was like, 10, clip-on earrings hurt and they suck, so I would understand if you don't want any.

You could pierce your belly-button and wear one there...

Lots of hugs. I miss you!
