So, catching up....
The date Saturday night with Gareth went very well. We laughed, we talked, we drank coffee, we saw The Princess Bride at midnight on the big screen, he drove me home. No touching, no serious discussions, no spark. I, not at all broken up by this (if there's no spark, there's no spark), decided that if he called I'd go out with him again, you know, to give it a chance, but that if he didn't call, I wasn't going to call him.
So he called today and wanted to clarify things, and as it turned out I'm very happy with the result. He's leaving the country in January and didn't want to start a relationship, so he proposed we just be friends, and as I felt no spark, I readily agreed to this. I mean, I like the guy a lot. He's really cool. So I see no reason to not continue to hang out. This, as I said, is an arrangement I'm very happy with.
So. Now that that's out of the way (and now that I have yet another guy friend that I've tried to date), moving on to the loan thing.
I called the bank today and spoke to a different customer service rep, who said customer service rep #1 was full of crap and I didn't have to go through all the signing and the statement-writing and the faxing that I dealt with last week. In fact, all that had to be done was a simple transfer by phone from her department to some other department, where I had to answer four or five questions to verify my identity, and then I was informed that I could call back to check the status of my loan on Thursday. I think this means that the problem has been fixed, or at least dealt with in a more direct manner, and my hopes are high. Third try's a charm, right? *knocks on plywood* Anyway, so that only took 45 minutes, about 40 of which were spent listening to what turned out to be actually very nice violin hold music.
I declared my major today. I'm officially Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, planning to finish by the end of next year, if not sooner. That alone really impressed the chemistry advisor (who was really nice and obviously knew what she was talking about, unlike some CROWN advisors I could name...), and when I mentioned the classes I took this summer, she first said, "And you lived to tell the tale??," and when I added that I got As, she almost fell out of her chair. So that was a really good ego boost, which came in handy for...
...My first ever physics lab.
Physics SUCKS.
I hate physics.
I officially really, really hate physics.
Did I mention physics sucks?
And now, since in the last 72 hours I've only spent 10 hours asleep, I'm going to go study *cough* I mean sleep.
I love college.
Oh, and thanks for the support about the loan, guys. If it doesn't come through on Thursday I may yet have to do something drastic... You're only supposed to be able to apply for reconsideration once and I've now done it twice.... Is three times possible?
Anyway. G'night, all.

I have a policy on dating physics majors... Do I need to develop a policy on being friends with physics majors? Hrm... This bears thinking about.
