I still miss the first guy I really dated, and fell in love with, and made love to, and talked about a future with. Oh, and that I broke up with because he was moving too far away for me. I still miss him. He was a great guy, but I must have broken up with him for a reason. (not to get all spiritual on you...) I think my Higher Power was looking out for me. If I had stopped at that first guy, I would have missed so many other opportunities for growth. I'm getting to know with each guy what is important to me, and what isn't. What I want from a relationship.
And you obviously must be awesome if you can get into Yale. Remember, not everyone gets in there. So someone(s) saw something in you that said you were well worth the time and effort to help guide along the path to getting a PhD. I think that says loads about you.
