Life on the other side
Sep. 3rd, 2006 01:15 pmAfter more than two months of not having internet, I am finally back online. It's a strange feeling. I keep forgetting that I can check my email without going to the library. And I find it really difficult to turn off the computer now--"No! What if the internet stops working while I'm asleep!!??"
Yale is pretty insane so far. Classes start on Wednesday, but orientation has been going on for almost two weeks now. I've met a ton of people. The list of names in my cell phone has increased dramatically, and I have almost as many Yale Facebook friends as UCSC Facebook friends (but I still have more UNR friends than either UCSC or Yale). When I got here, I didn't know a single person on the east coast. Suddenly, I have an extensive network of people who are quickly becoming amazing friends. It's been a very fast transition, and if I continue to hang out with a fifth of them in three months I'll be thrilled.
So. I'd kinda like to recount my summer, get it digitally saved, share it with you guys, all that sort of thing. So I think I'll start typing in snippets from my paper journal and post them as a summer travel log. It'll give me something to do (like classes starting Wednesday won't keep me busy enough...) and that way you guys will know what I was up to for the last three months.
I'm terribly homesick for Santa Cruz. But maybe New Haven won't be so bad after all.
