oceantheorem: (french kiss)
There's something I said I was going to do several months ago, and I've resolved, this very evening, to do it at the next possible opportunity, which I will do my best to bring about. I will let you know when the mission is accomplished.

Now that I've posted this here, it is a public promise, and I cannot back down.

Ugh. I climbed too hard yesterday. I'm soooo sore today.... I don't think I did anything below a 5.10a, and we climbed for about three hours. We did some intense bouldering, too. The problem with climbing with both Neal and Stephane is that the three of us are really competitive, and we just feed off each other. As soon as one person does something cool, the whole group is screwed, because we spend the rest of the time trying to one-up each other.

On the other hand, that makes for a fantastic workout. And we all three keep improving, so I guess we're doing something right.

Sailing was really cool today. It was weird without having Ann there--she was studying for an impending Cell Bio Midterm of Doom--but we got to race again, and this time my boat won every race. Apparently I learned something from last week. Yay! And we did a bit of blindfolded sailing, too, where the skipper closes his or her eyes and the crew member has to tell him or her exactly what to do. So there was a lot of screaming, "Fall off! Fall off! No, head up! No, too far, fall off again! Pull in the mainsheet! Fall off, damnit!" It was great. It was actually a lot easier than it sounds, because once you've skippered for a while you get a feel for how the boat is moving in relation to the wind, and you can totally tell by the feel of the mainsheet in your hand whether or not your mainsail is too loose, at least while you're heading mostly upwind. It's harder heading downwind, 'cause the sail has to be out all the way and that tension in your hand is gone, so you can't really tell if you need to pull it in more or let it out.

Anyway.

I might have found a place to live in New Haven, which is super exciting. The landlady said she'd send me pictures later this week, so I guess I'll decide once I've seen what the place looks like.

Dude, I have 97 Gmail invites. If anyone wants a Gmail account, post your current email address and I'll send you one. I'll screen comments so y'all don't have to worry about privacy or whatnot.

And I updated my user icons, because I could, and because it was fun.

Oh yeah, and I'll make a friends-only post here in a couple days or something, and actually post some news. Maybe. Possibly. If I remember. Poke me.
