Yeah, I'm not taking it too personally (a little personally. but not too much). They had record-breaking numbers of applicants, and most of them halved the number they accepted. And it's not like there's any funding once you get in... I dunno about other fields, but I know my field is hurting right now.

The roadtrip was amazing. I am constantly amazed at how much better I feel after taking a trip somewhere. I LOVE to travel.
I'm excited about the hat too. :-) And it's UCSC colors!

It hasn't been too bad here in Michigan. I got really lucky, actually--that big blizzard that hit on Saturday managed to go completely south of I-80, allowing me to drive home from Connecticut on Sunday on dry, clear roads.
We did get hit here in Michigan by the second snowstorm that hit the east coast--it hit us first on its way over there, and with a little bit less severity, but we did have all the schools shut down and whatnot. We got like 6 or 7 inches here Wednesday? But nothing too bad. I actually prefer the big storms to the long, monotonous months where it's just gray and depressing outside. Winter is much more tolerable when it comes with snow.

I haven't congratulated you yet on your engagement! I've been reading about it, though, and I'm so happy you two are moving forward. It sounds like you are really excited about it. Congratulations! And I'm glad your projects are going well and you've pared down which ones you're focusing on. You sound pretty happy. :-)
