Passion

i think my program has an inferiority complex. we have two years of class, minimum (and they only offer half of the core classes each year, so there's no way to cram...grrr!). really, though...i think my program is trying to prove something. two full years of coursework, 2 sets of three qualifying exams, plus a thesis-length "third area" qualifying exam w/no master's. yale, on the other hand, has confidence in its students and in its ability to train them beyond the classroom and isn't trying to convince anyone that they're "good".
