damn the 30 character limit. I got sort of snarky and tried to put "an 18 year old girl. Who lives in small city of Japan."
Well...it is the thought that counts in this case. ;)

These are part of that whole "I need winter icons and icons about friendship and icons about happiness and maybe a couple about sadness" thing you said a couple of weeks ago:

And these I made a while back that seemed to kinda fit in as well...

This has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas or stockings, but I thought you'd find it very interesting, considering what you're doing/going to do with your life:

The tinker toy computer is the shit. Check it out. It plays a mean game of tic tac toe.

See?!?! I knew breast milk is better for you!

My lab did a little bit of studying formula-fed babies. There's 500 times as much manganese in formula as in breast milk. Apparently, when formula makers make formula, they look at adult dietary needs and scale them down, which is the STUPIDEST thing I've ever heard, because anyone who's ever SEEN a baby knows they have different dietary needs. Like, a shitload more fat, and in our example, a shitload less manganese, and about thirty billion other vast differences.
Oops, sorry. /rant. If I ever have kids, I can assure you they won't be fed formula unless it can't be helped.

As for giving breast milk compounds to adults... hmmmmmm. Maybe I'll go read their paper now! That sounds really interesting. I'd like to know exactly which compounds and pathways they've identified, and what they think breast milk is doing against cancer.... You've woken up the nerd in me!

Love you, sees.

Formula is SOOOOO gross! I used to hate making it for Galen (having him in daycare and then when he self-weaned). Blech! The saying "Breast is Best" rings true....

One of the reasons I felt like a failed mom in the hospital when he was born is that he had to have a bottle of formula. My milk hadn't come in yet and he just wasn't getting enough nourishment. So they said my options were to: Keep trying with the breastfeeding (but he wouldn't latch on); Give him sugar water; or give him formula. So I caved and gave him the formula and felt like a horrible mom because I couldn't feed him. Now, though, I know that was silly for me to think I wasn't good enough, but when you're there in the moment... it felt like the worst thing I could have done.

And yea, I managed to read the paper and it was totally interesting! Definitely a nerdy thing ;)

You make me stupid!
