34 days until I turn 21!

On a teal strip of paper:

"The idea does not belong to the soul, it is the soul that belongs to the idea." --William Sanders Pierce

Well, it's an awfully self-explanatory quote. I thought about it while I was riding my bike along the levy this morning, and really, I suppose there's not much to say about it. But I did realize that the idea that education is the most important thing in my life definitely owns my soul and not the other way around. I could no more change that idea than I could change the weather. I suppose my soul belongs to it.

OOOOOOOooooo. Are you trying to bait a "humanities" major like myself :)? The wonderful thing about these quotes is that they are very Romantic (romantic in the sense of Hegel, Kant, Fichte, Schiller, Shelling, the Shellys, etc), but they just BEG to be discussed by an obnoxious person like myself...he he. :) I think you are cool, however and having a sense of wonder (even about quotes) is probably a better thing than not...especially if you are thinking about things. Thus, I will refrain from being a poop and raining on this quote parade by giving a huge ass rant on epistomology, consciousness, etc. At least until you get your internet back. ;)

:)

No no no! I WANT you to comment and rant on it! I WANT to spark heated discussions! Tell me I'm daft! Tell me the quote is daft! Rant away, humanities major!

:)

Mmmmmm. I don't think you are daft in the least.
I do think they quote is kind of silly though. I will explain why after I get done crunching through a 6-8 page paper on John Stewart Mill and Rosseau. *blarf.*
