Today I am grateful for
1. Clean, drinkable water
2. Naps.
3. Dancing!

Jim and I are taking dance lessons, and this evening we went to a lesson/party. It was Jim's first time going to one, and I haven't been to anything dance-y since I was at Yale, so it was a lot of fun. It's always cool to watch people who've been dancing for a long time. Hopefully, our current lessons will be more productive than the ones I've taken in the past...

Also, I bought dancing shoes today, which I'll wear for the reception at the wedding. They're gold, which I think is actually going to go really nicely with the green of the dress. I'm excited. :-)

OMG DA CHEAT, DA CHEAT. DA DA DA CHEAT.

I was just thinking about The Cheat the other day. Oh the good times.

What dances are you learning? Nate and I took dance lessons once. We are not coordinated. It was a good idea but it did not end well. however we were not the dorkiest ones in the class, so there's good news.

Da cheat is grounded! We installed that lightswitch so you could turn the lights ON and OFF. NOT so you could throw lightswitch raves!

We're learning the nightclub two-step, whatever that is. It's fun. We're very bad. We are not coordinated. I took tango lessons with my boyfriend at Yale, and that was also very bad, and we were very uncoordinated. The lessons are fun though.

Yay!! what kind of dancing?

The nightclub two-step, apparently? I'm not sure what that is, really. It's easier than the tango, though, so that's a good thing (as I said in my reply to Kris above, I took tango lessons at Yale and I was very, very bad at it). I really liked doing waltz, but the song Jim and I picked out for the wedding is too fast and apparently completely the wrong beat for waltz, so two-step it is. Not that either one of us can hear the beat, anyway... Man. We are seriously not cut out to be dancers.

We went to a group lesson and a party on Saturday. The lesson was bacchata. We were pretty bad at that, too. Still, it was cool to watch the really good people dancing, and it's always interesting to try out new steps and see just how difficult it is to pick them up... Especially since we've been watching Season 6 of So You Think You Can Dance. Our lessons give us a new appreciation for how quickly the people on the show are expected to pick up the new styles and then look good doing them.

We signed up for a 20-lesson series! So we have 20 hours of private instruction coming up over the course of the next few months. Hopefully we'll get to the point where we're not an embarrassment. :-D

That's great! NC2S seems like a great choice for a wedding dance. What's your song?

I bet you guys will be surprised how much you learn in 20 private lessons. What a fun experience!

It's I'm Yours, by Jason Mraz. It's upbeat and happy and not too mushy, which we like. :-)

Adorable! And a great NC2S.
