Home from Home
I'm home from Reno. This means, mainly, that I now have a stable internet connection (and there was much rejoicing. Yaaay.). It also means that I have a lot of stuff to catch up on, and I probably won't get around to putting most of it up here. Basically, it was a nice vacation, but it's good to be back. I enjoyed seeing people, but something about the city of Reno in general seems to make me unhappy and bitchy. I feel SOOO much better now that I'm back in SC.
George and his girlfriend Michelle and our friend Matt drove me down here from Davis yesterday and today we all went surfing. Or tried to. The water was really choppy, Michelle is afraid of the ocean, I'm weak.... Not one of us caught a wave. But it was a blast. George and I had this one moment of nostalgia where we both sat up on our boards and sang "Across the Sea" at each other very loudly and off-key, just because that's what we did last summer and it was funny.
I'm so glad I'm not in love with him anymore. Today reminded me of how painful that used to be. *wipes brow* Glad that's over.
In other news, after they left and I took a shower to get sand out of my hair (I had like four beach's (beaches'? yeah, beaches') worth of sand in my hair), I called Gareth (yes, this is very exciting) to tell him I'm back in town and to make an attempt to ask him out. You see, the Midnight Movie at the Del Mar next weekend is The Princess Bride. What better date could exist than coffee and then The Princess Bride as the Midnight Movie, on the big screen, in that awesome theatre? So I called him and we chatted for (thank you, cell phone call log) 11 minutes and 12 seconds, and he said he'd love to go. I found it very hard to not emit that high-pitched I'm-a-happy-female squeal that many of my gender seem to make so often. You know, the one that guys hate. Anyway, I managed to continue talking like a normal person, and now, instead of writing about my vacation in Reno, I feel like I have ten cups' (cupses'?) worth of coffee in my veins all at the same time, and I'm trying very hard to not return to the highschool "oooh, he smiled at me" frame of mind. It's just a date, ja? Nothing to flip out over. *remembers to inhale and exhale in turn*
Anyway. Ummm.... I'm very, very behind in reading everyone else's livejournals. You guys all post too often. :-P
I hope you're all doing well. Those of you who are in Reno, I wish I could have seen you more often. Those of you who are not in Reno, you want to hang out this week before school starts? 'Cause I'd love to. (Unless you're not in Santa Cruz, in which case... if you were, I'd want to hang out with you, too. Well, I mean, I want to hang out with you anyway, but... oh, never mind. Could you hold on while I open my mouth and change feet? Thanks.)
