YARN!
So this is the small skein of alpaca yarn I bought at Winters Gone Farm in Maine (if you click on the picture, and then click on it again, it gets really big so you can read the card). It was an impulse buy, but it was worth every penny. I can't stop holding it! It'll probably have to be the edging on something else, because I only have 125 yards. (Also, ironically, when you buy a skein you get to meet the alpacas, and the only one that didn't come into the barn when we went in was Lucas.) Maybe if I add a ball of the lilac-colored Debbie Bliss alpaca I could make a pair of Mrs. Beetons?

Would the black and lilac look good together?
Anyway, I might have to start scanning other things now. I can't believe this didn't occur to me sooner. Who needs a camera when you can just scan stuff?

I'm glad you had a good time in Maine! You needed it.

I guess I'm gonna have to wait until I have other small un-projected skeins.
Yeah, I'm glad I had a good time in Maine, too. I did need it.
Waffles seester!

Cause, according to the Debbie Bliss site and this weight chart (http://knitting.about.com/od/yarn/a/yarnweight.htm) it would be considered a medium/worsted weight for the regular silk. The DK would be slightly thinner/lighter weighted. And if you're talking about another different Alpaca Silk altogether, then I don't know :P
You could probably get away with it. Maybe if you knit the main color with the lilac and the contrasting color with the black? To get the weights correct.

Hmmm... That might work... Hehe, I should know better than to post a knitting problem to you! :-P
I was also thinking, I have some kind of crazy unmarked yarn that might be fun to work into the pattern (picture coming, please hold)... So now I dunno if I should really cast on for these until I've got some sort of set idea as to which yarns I will and won't incorporate.

It was on sale and it just wanted to be loved....

I like the yarns you find!! I still have like $30 left for my crafty stuff... I should go buy more yarn.

Oooh, what I would buy with $30...

Or better yet,

The sea silk or great big sea? I would die for that yarn.
:-P
(AAAHHH! I just looked at the list of retailers that sell HandMaiden yarns--there are none in Connecticut-sad-but there is one in Damariscotta, Maine. I WAS IN DAMARISCOTTA YESTERDAY!! *cries*)

I really, really want to make Clapotis out of sea silk. Someday I'm gonna spend a ton of money on a couple of skeins.
