I'm not dead.
I'm actually in Texas (and no, that's not the same thing as being dead). I'm enjoying a vacation on the beach with Ann. I'll be back in New Haven in a week or so.
Still don't have reliable internet. After two weeks of mucking around with Comcast and getting nowhere, I think I'll call SBC the day I get back and attempt to get it set up before orientation. The only problem with that is that my bank account has hit rock bottom. Thanks to the fact that I crashed my car and had to pay for repairs with my credit card, I don't even have the bank's money to pay for the internet with. Anyone feeling particularly charitable? I know of a very intelligent graduate student who could use a little help.... You could always send food if you don't want to send money.
In the meantime, I probably won't update again for a couple weeks, and of course I haven't read through the backlog of the last five weeks of your updates. Wish I could say I had, but you guys write too much. If anything important happens, email me. I miss you all, and you have no idea how incredibly homesick I am for Santa Cruz. Here's hoping I get my intravenous internet back soon....

I'm in Texas visiting Ann at her family's beach house in Port Aransas. Tomorrow I'm going up to San Antonio to visit my grandpa for a few days. I'll go back up to Fort Worth Tuesday night and stay with Ann again, then fly home Wednesday. After that I'll be in New Haven indefinitely.
Dude, I have like a thousand pages marked on my friends page. I caught up on yours...
I'll call you when I get back to CT; I don't have very good reception here.
