(no subject)

Forgot to tell y'all that I cut my hair. I chopped off eight inches, so it just brushes my shoulders now. I LOVE it. I also decided that it's my "let go" haircut, since I hadn't had a haircut since right before I broke up with Nick (man, that was EONS ago--no really, that was like eighteen months ago), and there are many many MANY things in the last eighteen months I should have let go of.

Anyway, I think it's working, because last night I had a dream about someone other than you-know-who, and while it was sort of disturbing to have a sex dream about one of my Yale friends (in whom I am not actually interested), even in the dream I realized that it wasn't you-know-who and was ecstatic.
So ha! Take that, subconscious. I win.

And now, um, I'm gonna be late to meet with my second rotation PI. More later.

Oh man. I agree with it, totally. But I do think it's a little strong. I mean, sure, sometimes when a woman chops off all her hair, it's a huge emotional thing.

Sometimes she's just sick of using so much conditioner. Really.

P.S. I totally didn't realize that this was something women did, until I chopped off ten or twelve inches in August 2005. I got back to Santa Cruz (I'd chopped it on vacation), and one of my classmates said, "What happened, did you just break up with someone?" I said, "No... why?" and she explained it to me. I laughed and said my relationship was fine.
Two weeks later I dumped Nick.

And when I broke up with Jamie, he cut off all his own hair. I think that was the saddest moment of my life; seeing him with his hand-chopped hair. It broke my heart.

So yeah, this haircut for me is definitely about trying to let go. It's time. I have to move on.
And I feel a lot better.

Definitely. I agree that women can change hair styles and have it be something that isn't super duper crazy. The context of the article is that it was written by an extremely intelligent relationship columnist (the rest of her site www.andtheylivedhappilyeverafter.com is really really great) for a relationship context. So given that context...I figured it was a pretty fair thing to tell men to "watch out" if that happened randomly (cause most women give a bit more advance notice than the Britney Spears-esque head shave on a whim).

I know I shouldn't laugh...by the phrase "hand chopped hair" just totally made me chuckle.

Lol.

Nice talkin' to you, Ms. Kara :)

Also, I don't have a camera.

I could scan my head....

Wow. I laughed at that for like 15 seconds. That was really amusing. :)
